FlatWhite

FlatWhite is an online English school for adults who understand the language but find it hard to speak. I designed its website and built it in Elementor: the home page, pages for individual, pair and group classes, a placement test, the team, an about page, a blog and a contact page.

The FlatWhite home page in a browser window, a heading that promises to help you get past the block and speak English freely next to a photograph of the teacher sitting with a laptop, and the same page on a phone, on a coffee-brown background

Notes

The school's students are adults who know English and freeze when they have to say something. The first screen asks them just that, do you understand more than you can say, and the page keeps to one path from there: what students say, a free trial lesson, three kinds of classes with their prices, and a form for people who cannot decide which to take. The look takes its cue from the name, English over coffee: cream, coffee brown and one pink accent.

Design decision

A free lesson before any price

The offer starts with the trial lesson: a dark card marked as the best first step, thirty minutes at no cost, with the only filled button in the section. The three paid kinds of class sit beside it with their prices. Each has its own page, and the one for individual lessons opens with a calendar.

The about page in a browser window, a heading in which the teacher introduces herself, two paragraphs about her training and a photograph of her lying among English textbooks, next to the team page on a phone
