Maczak

Maczak is a manufacturer from Milejewo, near Elbląg, that has made plastic parts and furniture accessories since 1984. I designed its website: a home page, a catalogue of over a hundred products with categories and colour filters, a page for every product, an about page and a contact page. The site is being built now.

Notes

A manufacturer's catalogue is a tool: a furniture maker comes for one part, a bracket of a given size or a spacer in a given colour, and wants to find it quickly. So the home page puts the search and the categories right after the first screen, and the catalogue takes over from there. The look stays out of the way, white and light grey with near-black type, so that the small parts, photographed on white, are what you see.

Design decision

A catalogue without a basket

Maczak sells to other companies, and an order there starts with a question, not with a basket. So the catalogue is made for finding: a search field in the header of every page, filters by category and by colour with a count beside each, and on a product's page a single button, to write and ask about availability.
